How much is a CEO worth to a company?  In this time of Facebook, Twitter and social media, the opinions occupy a wide range. How many of the Top 10 highest paid CEO’s work for what are considered the best places to work?  A recent survey by 24/7 Wall Street has compiled a list of what they believe are the Top 10 highest paid Chief Executive Officer’s over the past year.   Take a look at this list and let us know your thoughts.

2.     Joel F. Gemunder, Omnicare, Total 2010 compensation: $98.3 million
 
3.     John C. Plant, TRW Automotive, Total 2010 compensation: $76.8 million
 
4.     Frank Coyne, Verisk Analytics, Total 2010 compensation: $68.4 million
 
5.     Thomas M. Ryan, CVS Caremark, Total 2010 compensation: $68.1 million
 
6.     Adam Metz, General Growth Properties, Total 2010 compensation: $66.7 million
 
7.     Ralph Lauren -  Polo Ralph Lauren, Total 2010 compensation: $66.7 million
 
8.     Michael D. Fascitelli -  Vornado RT,  Total 2010 compensation: $64.4 million
 
9.     Ronald A. Williams - Aetna, Total 2010 compensation: $57.8 million

Is your CEO on this list? It was a down year for CEO’s, so many are clipping coupons to make ends meet since they made a few million less.  Technology, entertainment and health care lead the list according to USA Today of the companies shelling out the most money for the services of their Chief Executive Officer.  Are any of the highest paid CEO’s running any of the companies on the Best Places to Work? – Probably not, so here is the list for you to determine if they are worth it:

·         Mark Hurd, Hewlett Packard – Total Compensation: $24,201,448

·         William Weldon, Johnson & Johnson – Total Compensation: $22,830,834

·         Miles White, Abbot Laboratories – Total Compensation: $21,927,989

·         Robert Iger, Walt Disney – Total Compensation: $21,578,471

·         Samuel Palmisano, IBM – Total Compensation: $21,159,289

Shouldn’t one of the CEO’s be on the Best Places to Work in 2009?
