1. Lady GaGa - The Fame Monster

The Fame Monster is the second studio album by American recording artist Lady Gaga, released on November 18, 2009. The album's eight songs were initially intended to be part of a re-release of Gaga's debut album The Fame. However, Gaga announced that the new songs would be available as a stand alone album, as she thought the re-release was too expensive and that, as the piece represents a separate conceptual and musical body of work, it does not need the songs of The Fame to support it. A Super Deluxe Fame Monster pack containing the two releases was released on December 15, 2009.

2. Lady Antebellum - Need You Now

Need You Now is the second studio album from country music group Lady Antebellum. The album was released on January 26, 2010, via Capitol Nashville. It is the follow-up album to their 2008 self-titled RIAA Platinum certified debut album. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with 481,000 copies sold in its first week.

3. Sade - Soldier of Love

Soldier of Love is the sixth studio album by the English group Sade. It is their first album of original material since Lovers Rock (2000). The album was initially released on 8 February 2010 in Germany, and it was released worldwide on 8 February 2010 and in the United States on 9 February 2010. The first single "Soldier of Love" premiered on 8 December 2009 on the group's official website.

4. Susan Boyle - I Dreamed a Dre...

Dreamed a Dream is the debut album from Scottish singer Susan Boyle. It was released on 23 November 2009 by Syco Music in the UK, and by Columbia Records in the US one day later. In the standard edition, 11 out of the 12 songs that appear on the album are cover songs, with "Who I Was Born To Be" being the only original composition.

The album is the biggest selling album ever for a solo or band. she is the worlds best selling recording artist in history of the making. The album entered the UK album chart at no.1 and remained at the top for 34 weeks. It is the fastest-selling debut album of all-time in the United Kingdom (and the most-fastest selling album overall in the United Kingdom), selling 411,820 copies and beating the record previously set by Spirit by Leona Lewis. It also outsold the rest of the top 40 albums combined during its first week on sale, and became the biggest selling album in the UK in 2009 and ever. I Dreamed a Dream debuted at #1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 with 701,000 copies sold in its first week, breaking the record for the highest debut ever for a new solo female artist in the SoundScan era (post 1991). I Dreamed a Dream became the biggest opening sales week of 2009 and ever in the United States, beating out Eminem's Relapse which sold 608,000. It was the biggest-selling album of 2009 in the United States, with 7.8 million copies sold, infront Taylor Swift's Fearless which sold 3.2 million copies (although Swift's album was actually released in 2008). In only six weeks of sales, it became the biggest selling album in the world for 2009.

5. Kesha - Animal

Animal is the debut studio album by American pop singer Kesha. A project that took seven years to complete and for which Kesha had written over 200 songs, the theme of the album is to not take minor issues in life too seriously.

The album debuted at the top of the album charts in the United States and Canada with three U.S. Billboard Hot 100 debuts accompanying the album's release, including second single "Blah Blah Blah" which debuted at number seven, as a result of massive digital sales.

Animal received mixed reviews from music critics upon release. Some appreciated the fun, carefree nature, while others dismissed it as juvenile and claimed that it came off as insincere. The lead single, "Tik Tok", reached number one in eleven countries as well as reaching the top ten in many others.

6. Hope for Haiti - Various Arti...

Hope for Haiti Now is a live album by various artists to benefit Hope for Haiti Now's campaign to alleviate the 2010 Haiti earthquake. All benefits from the album sales go to Haiti relief organizations, including the Red Cross and Wyclef Jean's Yele Haiti foundation. Hope for Haiti Now features 19 live performances from the television broadcast Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief as well as the studio version of "Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour)", an original track performed by Jay-Z, Bono, The Edge and Rihanna during the telethon.

The digital-only album was made available for pre-order through iTunes on 22 January 2010. It set a record as the biggest one-day album pre-order in iTunes history. The album sold 171,000 copies in its first weekend, and in 2 days alone became the first digital-only album to top the Billboard 200 album chart.

7. Black Eyed Peas - The E.N.D.

The E.N.D. (short for The Energy Never Dies) is the fifth studio album by American pop group The Black Eyed Peas. The album was first released in Japan on 3 June 2009, and worldwide six days later. Critics described the album as containing more anthemic and inspirational songs in the group's bid to appeal to a new generation of music listeners.

Three promotional singles, "Imma Be", "Alive", and "Meet Me Halfway", were released through the iTunes Store in the three weeks running up to the album's release. The album gave the group their first, second, and third US number one hits with "Boom Boom Pow", "I Gotta Feeling", and "Imma Be"" which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 12, 14, and 2 weeks respectively. The third single, "Meet Me Halfway", along with the first two, topped several charts around the world including the United Kingdom and Australia. The album has sold 7 million copies to date.

8. Lil Wayne - Rebirth

Rebirth is the seventh studio album by American rapper Lil Wayne, released February 2, 2010 on Cash Money Records. It was originally set to be released in early 2009, before several delays led to its release. Production for the album was handled primarily by Cool & Dre, DJ Infamous, DJ Nasty & LVM, Kevin Rudolf, and J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. Rebirth is his rock music debut, though it also includes hip hop tracks.

The album debuted at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling 176,000 copies in its first week. It became Wayne's seventh top-ten album in the United States and produced four singles that attained Billboard chart success. Upon its release, Rebirth received generally negative reviews from most music critics.

9. Alicia Keyes - The Element of...

The Element of Freedom is the fourth studio album by American R&B musician Alicia Keys, released December 11, 2009, on J Records. Recording sessions for the album took place during May to September 2009 at The Oven Studios in Long Island, New York. Production was handled by Keys, Jeff Bhasker, Swizz Beatz, Noah "40" Shebib, and Kerry "Krucial" Brothers.

The album debuted at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling 417,000 copies in its first week. It became Keys' first non-number one album in the United States and her first number one album in the United Kingdom. The Element of Freedom was certified platinum by the RIAA within its first month of release and has spawned five singles that attained Billboard chart success as well as in international territories such as the UK. Despite mixed criticism towards its low-key sound and Keys' songwriting, the album received generally positive reviews from most music critics.

10. Taylor Swift - Fearless

Fearless is the second studio album by American country pop artist Taylor Swift. Released on November 11, 2008, on Big Machine Records, the album debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and the Top Country Albums charts. The release sold 592,000 copies in the United States its first week—the largest sum for a country album since Eagles' Long Road Out of Eden in November 2007. Fearless later became the first album to sell one million copies in 2009, and earned the title of top-selling album of 2009. As of February 11, 2010, the album has been certified 6x Platinum by the RIAA, and has sold 10 million copies worldwide.

11. Vampire Weekend - Contra

The release of Contra was announced on September 15, 2009, and was released in the UK on January 11, 2010. It was released in the U.S. on the next day. However, the album was already available on January 8 on iTunes. "Horchata" was released as a free download on October 5, 2009 on the band's website. The first single was "Cousins", accompanied by a 7" single, and a music video. The album was available for streaming on the band's MySpace starting on January 3, 2010. It is also currently available for streaming from their official website, as of January 5, 2010.

It is the band's first album to reach number one on the Billboard 200, and the 12th independently distributed album in history to reach the number one spot on the Billboard 200 since Nielsen Soundscan began recording data in 1991. The album sold 124,000 copies in its first week according to RUSE magazine.

12. Mary J Blige - Stronger with ...

Stronger with Each Tear is the ninth studio album from American R&B and soul singer Mary J. Blige. The album was released in the U.S. on December 21, 2009 under Blige's own imprint Matriarch Records, making it her third consecutive album to be released during the Christmas period following The Breakthrough (2005) and Growing Pains (2007).

Internationally it was released December 18, 2009 in Australia and Germany, December 21 in France, December 23 in Japan with further international releases in February and March 2010.

13. Justin Bieber - My World

My World is the first release by Canadian singer, Justin Bieber. It is considered to be the first part of a two-part debut release. My World, being the first part is considered an extended play standalone. It was released on November 17, 2009, via Island Records, and the second part will be released on March 23, 2010. Bieber worked a variety of producers and writers such as his mentor, Usher, Tricky Stewart, The-Dream, Midi Mafia and more. The songs are mostly inspired by teen romance and typical coming of age situations, and musically the album is R&B influenced pop. The album received positive reviews from critics, and debuted at #6 on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling 137,000 copies in its first week, which was at the time, the best opening release for a new artist in 2009, until the record was topped by Susan Boyle's I Dreamed a Dream. It also debuted at #1 on the Canadian Albums Chart, and went Gold in a week. The album was certified Platinum in Canada less than a month later In less than a month of release, the album was certified Gold in the United States by the RIAA, and in less than two months later, the album was certified platinum in the United States, selling over a million copies. After less than a month of its United Kingdom release, it was certified Silver by the BPI.

14. Michael Buble - Crazy Love

Crazy Love, released in 2009, is Canadian vocalist Michael Bublé's fourth studio album. After only three days of sales, the album opened atop the Billboard 200 chart with 132,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, giving the singer his second No. 1 album. Spending the first full week at the top, the album increased in sales to 203,000 copies, staying again at the number one spot on its second week. The album has sold nearly 4 million copies since its release.

In Australia, the album debuted at No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart and spent three continuous weeks at No. 1. It has since spent 23 weeks in the top 10 and is certified 4× platinum.

15. Justin Bieber - My World 2

My World 2.0 is the latter of two-part debut studio album from Canadian singer Justin Bieber, and is his first full studio release. The album is the follow-up to the first platinum certified half of the album, which was released on November 17, 2009, via Island Records, and 2.0 is anticipated for a March 23, 2010 release. Bieber will support the album with his very first headlining tour.

The album is preceded by the lead, "Baby", featuring Ludacris was released on January 18, 2010, and two digital singles, the "Never Let You Go" on March 2, 2010, and "U Smile" on March 16, 2010. The previous is set to be released later as the album's second single.
